The work Going To Market, Early Morning by Thomas Gainsborough was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 7,961,000.00 (€ 8,740,648.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000,000.00 – 9,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Going To Market, Early Morning is the most expensive artwork by Thomas Gainsborough that we have observed at auctions so far.
