Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Gainsborough could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2024 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Drawings auction, the work Wooded landscape with horsemen crossing a bridge changed hands for USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,259.05) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Gainsborough achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going To Market, Early Morning in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 7,961,000.00 (€ 8,740,648.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Gainsborough konnte im Februar 2024 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings wechselte die Arbeit Wooded landscape with horsemen crossing a bridge für USD 9.450,00 (€ 8.259,05) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Gainsborough erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going To Market, Early Morning im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.961.000,00 (€ 8.740.648,70).
