Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Thomas Daniell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in September 2021. In the Travel & Exploration auction, the work 'Ruins At The Antient City Of Gour Formerly On The Banks Of The River Ganges' Plate 48.6 X 65.4Cm (19 1/8 X 25 3/4In). Unframed sold for GBP 3,570.00 (€ 4,153.74) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Daniell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).
In der Auktion Travel & Exploration wurde die Arbeit 'Ruins At The Antient City Of Gour Formerly On The Banks Of The River Ganges' Plate 48.6 X 65.4Cm (19 1/8 X 25 3/4In).
