This artwork by Thomas Daniell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in February 2021. In the Travel & Exploration auction, the work Mausoleum of Sultan Chusero, Near Allahabad published by Robert Bowyer, London, 1796 plate 48.7 x 65cm (19 3/16 x 25 9/16in). sold for GBP 2,422.50 (€ 2,793.90) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Daniell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Daniell erzielte im Februar 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Travel & Exploration wurde die Arbeit Mausoleum of Sultan Chusero, Near Allahabad published by Robert Bowyer, London, 1796 plate 48.7 x 65cm (19 3/16 x 25 9/16in). für GBP 2.422,50 (€ 2.793,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Daniell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.071.000,00 (€ 986.369,50).
