Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of USD 478,800.00 (€ 392,652.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Daniell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast, which sold at auction in January this year for USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).
