Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ruins Of The Naurattan, Sasaram, Bihar by Thomas Daniell was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,075.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Daniell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.075,92) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Daniell erzielen.
