Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Cheddar Gorge, Somerset by Thomas Daniell was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July 2020. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,182.84). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Daniell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast in January this year with an auction result of USD 1,071,000.00 (€ 986,369.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Cheddar Gorge, Somerset von Thomas Daniell wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.182,84) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Daniell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The entrance of an excavated Hindu cave temple at Mahabalipuram on the Coromandel Coast im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.071.000,00 (€ 986.369,50).
