In November 2006 Christies in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Study for "Voyage of Life" by Thomas Cole. The »bidding war« ended at USD 78,000.00 (€ 58,819.09), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Catskill Mountain House in December 2003 with an auction result of USD 1,463,500.00 (€ 1,161,784.55).

Im November 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for "Voyage of Life" von Thomas Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 78.000,00 (€ 58.819,09) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Catskill Mountain House im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.463.500,00 (€ 1.161.784,55).
