In September this year Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Wild Landscape with a Figure by Thomas Cole. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,816.00 (€ 2,660.62), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Catskill Mountain House in December 2003 with an auction result of USD 1,463,500.00 (€ 1,161,784.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im September diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wild Landscape with a Figure von Thomas Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.816,00 (€ 2.660,62) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Catskill Mountain House im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.463.500,00 (€ 1.161.784,55).
