Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Cole could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Sunset On The Arno changed hands for USD 596,000.00 (€ 534,577.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Cole - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Catskill Mountain House, which sold at auction in December 2003 for USD 1,463,500.00 (€ 1,161,784.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Cole konnte im Mai 2019 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit Sunset On The Arno für USD 596.000,00 (€ 534.577,09) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Cole mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Catskill Mountain House beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für USD 1.463.500,00 (€ 1.161.784,55) versteigert wurde.
