In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art auction, the work The Bombardment Of Algiers, 27 August 1816 sold for GBP 21,250.00 (€ 28,856.48) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Buttersworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Captain Lord Cochrane'S Frigate Pallas Leaving The Tagus Under Full Sail, The City of Lisbon Beyond And The Belem Tower Receding Astern in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 147,592.30).
