In April last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work Boats on the Tagus estuary, with Belem Tower beyond by Thomas Buttersworth. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,785.00 (€ 2,128.55), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Buttersworth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Captain Lord Cochrane'S Frigate Pallas Leaving The Tagus Under Full Sail, The City of Lisbon Beyond And The Belem Tower Receding Astern in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 147,592.30).

Im April letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boats on the Tagus estuary, with Belem Tower beyond von Thomas Buttersworth zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.785,00 (€ 2.128,55) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Buttersworth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Captain Lord Cochrane'S Frigate Pallas Leaving The Tagus Under Full Sail, The City of Lisbon Beyond And The Belem Tower Receding Astern im Juni 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.000,00 (€ 147.592,30).
