Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Action Of Commodore Dance And The Comte De Linois Off The Straits Of Malacca, 15 February 1804 by Thomas Buttersworth was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures auction at Sothebys in London in April 2021. The price achieved of GBP 13,860.00 (€ 15,943.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Buttersworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Captain Lord Cochrane'S Frigate Pallas Leaving The Tagus Under Full Sail, The City of Lisbon Beyond And The Belem Tower Receding Astern in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 147,592.30).
