In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Red Dawn by Theodore Major. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,233.78), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Theodore Major have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Industrial Landscape in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 34,100.00 (€ 42,838.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Dawn von Theodore Major zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.233,78) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Theodore Major auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Industrial Landscape im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 34.100,00 (€ 42.838,06).
