In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Man and Sun by Theodore Major. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 23,750.00 (€ 29,290.35), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Theodore Major; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Industrial Landscape sold at auction in March 2008 with the realized price of GBP 34,100.00 (€ 42,838.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Man and Sun von Theodore Major zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 29.290,35) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Theodore Major; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Industrial Landscape im März 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 34.100,00 (€ 42.838,06).
