In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern Discoveries, which included the work Au Jardin (In the Garden) by Theodore Earl Butler. The »bidding war« ended at USD 60,480.00 (€ 54,520.87), 73% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Theodore Earl Butler have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flag Day in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 552,500.00 (€ 487,944.89).

Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern Discoveries durch, in der auch die Arbeit Au Jardin (In the Garden) von Theodore Earl Butler zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 60.480,00 (€ 54.520,87) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Theodore Earl Butler auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Flag Day im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 552.500,00 (€ 487.944,89).
