Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A still life with a wine bottle and a glass by Theo Swagemakers was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in January 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of NLG 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for NLG 940.00 (€ 411.33). Admittedly, works by Theo Swagemakers have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A still life with fruits, a basket and a bowl in January 2001 with an auction result of NLG 4,465.00 (€ 1,953.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A still life with a wine bottle and a glass von Theo Swagemakers im Januar 2001 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von NLG 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für NLG 940,00 (€ 411,33) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Theo Swagemakers auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A still life with fruits, a basket and a bowl im Januar 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 4.465,00 (€ 1.953,80).
