Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Whyte Painting (NGGRWR 0019) by Theaster Gates was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in London in June last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,710.00 (€ 12,441.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Theaster Gates achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Flag For The Least Of Them in December 2018 with an auction result of USD 807,000.00 (€ 704,434.36).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Whyte Painting (NGGRWR 0019) von Theaster Gates wurde im Juni letzten Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 10.710,00 (€ 12.441,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Theaster Gates erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Flag For The Least Of Them im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 807.000,00 (€ 704.434,36).
