Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December last year Phillips in London held the auction New Now, which included the work Topological Study with Hose by Theaster Gates. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 226,800.00 (€ 256,035.11). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Theaster Gates - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Flag For The Least Of Them, which sold at auction in December 2018 for USD 807,000.00 (€ 704,434.36).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Topological Study with Hose von Theaster Gates zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 226.800,00 (€ 256.035,11) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Theaster Gates mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Flag For The Least Of Them beobachtet, die im Dezember 2018 für USD 807.000,00 (€ 704.434,36) versteigert wurde.
