This artwork by Tan Yankai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2017. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Calligraphy Couplet In Running Script sold for USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,878.02) - well above the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00.
