Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction THE BLEASEL COLLECTION OF AUSTRALIAN PAINTINGS, which included the work Twilight, Hawkesbury Landscape by Sydney Long. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 13,145.00 (€ 8,047.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sydney Long have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian the Milkmaid in August 2008 with an auction result of AUD 67,200.00 (€ 39,227.87).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2005 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion THE BLEASEL COLLECTION OF AUSTRALIAN PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Twilight, Hawkesbury Landscape von Sydney Long zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 13.145,00 (€ 8.047,75) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sydney Long auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian the Milkmaid im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 67.200,00 (€ 39.227,87).
