It achieved a price of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,943.86), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 71%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Stephen Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mandy Rice-Davies, which sold at auction in March 2018 for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,078.33).

Die Arbeit Portrait of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh von Stephen Ward kam im Oktober 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 6.943,86) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 71%. Für andere Arbeiten von Stephen Ward mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mandy Rice-Davies beobachtet, die im März 2018 für GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.078,33) versteigert wurde.
