Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Maternal Nocturne (MASS MoCA 66-D) by Stephen Hannock was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 640.00 (€ 590.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stephen Hannock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Oxbow, for Lane Faison with Betty and Agnes Mongan (Mass MoCA #147) in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 250,075.00 (€ 224,302.63).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Maternal Nocturne (MASS MoCA 66-D) von Stephen Hannock im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 640,00 (€ 590,46) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stephen Hannock erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Oxbow, for Lane Faison with Betty and Agnes Mongan (Mass MoCA #147) im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 250.075,00 (€ 224.302,63).
