In May last year Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Flooded River with Emerging Crescent 33 1/4 x 54 1/4 in. (84.5 x 137.8 cm.) by Stephen Hannock. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,695.00 (€ 37,922.84), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Stephen Hannock have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Oxbow, for Lane Faison with Betty and Agnes Mongan (Mass MoCA #147) in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 250,075.00 (€ 224,302.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flooded River with Emerging Crescent 33 1/4 x 54 1/4 in. (84.5 x 137.8 cm.) von Stephen Hannock zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.695,00 (€ 37.922,84) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Stephen Hannock auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Oxbow, for Lane Faison with Betty and Agnes Mongan (Mass MoCA #147) im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 250.075,00 (€ 224.302,63).
