Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for Goldberg Variation 8 by Spencer Finch was sold in the The Hall Art Foundation for Dreyfoos auction at Phillips in New York in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 20,160.00 (€ 16,484.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Spencer Finch - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work New York Boogie Woogie (Times Square, April 27, 2003, 10:07 Pm), which sold at auction in October 2018 for USD 68,750.00 (€ 60,668.90).
