The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,261.26), 68% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Reid Dick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sir Winston Churchill, which sold at auction in February 2008 for GBP 28,100.00 (€ 36,753.70).

Die Arbeit Sir Winston Churchill von William Reid Dick wurde im Mai 2006 in der Auktion 20th Century British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.261,26) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Reid Dick mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sir Winston Churchill beobachtet, die im Februar 2008 für GBP 28.100,00 (€ 36.753,70) versteigert wurde.
