In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Portrait of Philip Stanhope, 2nd Earl of Chesterfield (1634–1714) |《菲利普・斯坦霍普,切斯特菲爾德伯爵二世(1634–1714年)肖像》 by Peter Lely. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 226,800.00 (€ 253,355.81). Other works by Peter Lely have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 368,750.00 (€ 414,974.11) in December 2017 for the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Barbara Palmer, Née Villiers (1640-1709), Countess Of Castlemaine And 1St Duchess Of Cleveland, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Yellow Dress, A Coastal Landscape Beyond.

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 226.800,00 (€ 253.355,81) einen neuen Besitzer.
