Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British & Continental Pictures including Sporting and Marine Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of Mrs Nicholas by Peter Lely. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,040.00 (€ 3,029.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Lely achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Barbara Palmer, Née Villiers (1640-1709), Countess Of Castlemaine And 1St Duchess Of Cleveland, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Yellow Dress, A Coastal Landscape Beyond in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 368,750.00 (€ 414,974.11).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Barbara Palmer, Née Villiers (1640-1709), Countess Of Castlemaine And 1St Duchess Of Cleveland, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Yellow Dress, A Coastal Landscape Beyond im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 368.750,00 (€ 414.974,11).
