The work Portrait of Elizabeth Capel, Countess of Carnarvon (1633–1678), with a guitar |《伊莉莎白・卡佩,卡那封伯爵夫人(1633-1678年)手持吉他的肖像》 by Peter Lely was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2020. The price achieved of GBP 119,700.00 (€ 133,715.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Lely - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Barbara Palmer, Née Villiers (1640-1709), Countess Of Castlemaine And 1St Duchess Of Cleveland, Three-Quarter-Length, In A Yellow Dress, A Coastal Landscape Beyond, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 368,750.00 (€ 414,974.11).
