The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,100.00 (€ 5,812.34), 46% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Watson Gordon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Richard Raines Savage, full-length, seated, in a black coat and white waistcoat, with two dogs, in a landscape in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 17,037.50 (€ 27,140.59).

Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Watson Gordon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Richard Raines Savage, full-length, seated, in a black coat and white waistcoat, with two dogs, in a landscape im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.037,50 (€ 27.140,59).
