Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work In the tavern by John Gilbert for EUR 360.00. This price was achieved in the auction Clocks, Furniture and Works of Art from the Venema Collection at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Gilbert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The marriage of Katherine and Petruchio: The Taming of the Shrew in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,159.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2006 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit In the tavern von John Gilbert für EUR 360,00 erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Clocks, Furniture and Works of Art from the Venema Collection bei Christies in Amsterdam erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 600,00 – 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Gilbert erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The marriage of Katherine and Petruchio: The Taming of the Shrew im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 6.159,49).
