The auction ended at the price of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,159.49), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The marriage of Katherine and Petruchio: The Taming of the Shrew is the most expensive artwork by John Gilbert that we have observed at auctions so far.
