Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Collector, Dealer, Connoisseur: The Vision of Richard L. Feigen, which included the work Sketch for "A Whisky Still at Lochgilphead" by David Wilkie. It changed hands for a price of USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,995.84) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Wilkie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Spanish Girl in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 363,650.00 (€ 522,024.96).
