Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two studies for Nelson sealing the Copenhagen Letter; and John Knox Preaching by David Wilkie was auctioned at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,008.00 (€ 1,203.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Wilkie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Spanish Girl in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 363,650.00 (€ 522,024.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Two studies for Nelson sealing the Copenhagen Letter; and John Knox Preaching von David Wilkie kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.008,00 (€ 1.203,73) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Wilkie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Spanish Girl im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 363.650,00 (€ 522.024,96).
