A top price for Cedric Morris
When the work Poppies by Cedric Morris was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 35,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 131,000.00 (€ 149,184.56). This high result makes Poppies the most expensive artwork by Cedric Morris that we have observed at auctions so far.

Als die Arbeit Poppies von Cedric Morris im Juni 2017 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 35.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 131.000,00 (€ 149.184,56) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieses hohe Ergebnis macht Poppies zu dem teuersten Kunstwerk von Cedric Morris, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
