Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Simone Leigh achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in October 2019. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction, the work Shower Cap sold for GBP 175,000.00 (€ 202,987.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simone Leigh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stick in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,712,000.00 (€ 2,545,522.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Simone Leigh erzielte im Oktober 2019 bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Shower Cap für GBP 175.000,00 (€ 202.987,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Simone Leigh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stick im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.712.000,00 (€ 2.545.522,81).
