Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Oigawa (Oi River) Scene From The Bunraku Play Shou Utsushi Asagao Banashi, 1956 by Junichiro Sekino was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2006. It changed hands for a price of USD 1,440.00 (€ 1,186.26) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Junichiro Sekino - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yoshida Bungoro, which sold at auction in March 2001 for USD 3,525.00 (€ 4,008.41).
