Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Koromogawa (Koromo River), 1984 by Junichiro Sekino was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,080.00 (€ 889.69). Admittedly, works by Junichiro Sekino have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yoshida Bungoro in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 3,525.00 (€ 4,008.41).
