Gifted by the artist to Alan and Marge Carter, 1960 | Thence by descent | Alan Carter was a career diplomat with the former United States Information Agency (USIA). He held several senior positions and served tours of duty in Pakistan, India, Japan and Vietnam. He was awarded the Edward R Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy. In India, he served as the Press attaché for two US Ambassadors - Ellsworth Bunker and John Kenneth Galbraith.

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Satish Gujral achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work without title sold for USD 30,240.00 (€ 25,751.51) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Satish Gujral have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Despair in September 2016 with an auction result of USD 125,000.00 (€ 111,229.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Satish Gujral erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 30.240,00 (€ 25.751,51) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Satish Gujral auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Despair im September 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 111.229,76).
