Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Crucifixion by Satish Gujral was auctioned at Christies in New York in September this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 20,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 75,600.00 (€ 71,428.57). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Satish Gujral; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Despair sold at auction in September 2016 with the realized price of USD 125,000.00 (€ 111,229.76).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Crucifixion von Satish Gujral im September diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 20.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 75.600,00 (€ 71.428,57) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Satish Gujral; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Despair im September 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 111.229,76).
