However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Santi di Tito - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length, in a black embroidered silk doublet and cloak, with a ruff, holding gloves and a letter in his left hand, a lute on the table, which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 158,500.00 (€ 224,699.76).
