Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Mouth Of The Shrewsbury River by Sanford Robinson Gifford was sold in the American Art auction at Christies in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 350,000.00 (€ 313,929.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sanford Robinson Gifford have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Lake Twilight in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
