Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2009 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work An officer of the Grenadier Company of the 2nd Battalion, Bombay European Regiment, in scarlet coat faced with yellow and silver lace distinctively placed in threes, his belt plate engraved with the crest of the Honourable East India Company above hi by Samuel Andrews. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,200.25). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Andrews - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Unknown, which sold at auction in June 2011 for GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,637.88).

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.200,25) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Samuel Andrews mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Unknown beobachtet, die im Juni 2011 für GBP 6.000,00 (€ 6.637,88) versteigert wurde.
