In December 2001 Christies in London held the auction OBJECTS OF VERTU AND MINIATURES, which included the work A gentleman believed to be James Wilton, facing right in a double-breasted coat, curly hair by Samuel Andrews. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 376.00 (€ 614.33), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Andrews achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Unknown in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 6,637.88).
