Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363), which included the work Staircase VI, from 'Second Floor' by Sam Taylor-Johnson. The price achieved of GBP 573.75 (€ 640.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Taylor-Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work After Van Halen in February 2008 with an auction result of USD 88,000.00 (€ 57,944.29).
