Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'In the Box - horizontal' by Ruth Bernhard was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,543.41). Admittedly, works by Ruth Bernhard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Ruth Bernhard' in October 2007 with an auction result of USD 37,000.00 (€ 25,573.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 'In the Box - horizontal' von Ruth Bernhard im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.543,41) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ruth Bernhard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Ruth Bernhard' im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.000,00 (€ 25.573,68).
