Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pietown Café, c. 1940 by Russell Lee was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,125.00 (€ 2,240.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Russell Lee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pie Town, New Mexico. in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 12,925.00 (€ 20,239.88).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Pietown Café, c. 1940 von Russell Lee kam im Oktober 2011 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.125,00 (€ 2.240,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Russell Lee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pie Town, New Mexico. im November 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.925,00 (€ 20.239,88).
