Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Man In Window, New York, 1978 by Roy DeCarava was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,857.97). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy DeCarava achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hallway, New York in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,993.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Man In Window, New York, 1978 von Roy DeCarava im April 2014 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.857,97) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy DeCarava erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hallway, New York im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.500,00 (€ 64.993,28).
