Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 'Kids God Bless,' From Belafonte, New York 19 (Child Playing At Curb, Eighth Avenue) by Roy DeCarava was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 6,759.19). Admittedly, works by Roy DeCarava have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hallway, New York in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 72,500.00 (€ 64,993.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 'Kids God Bless,' From Belafonte, New York 19 (Child Playing At Curb, Eighth Avenue) von Roy DeCarava im April 2014 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 6.759,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Roy DeCarava auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hallway, New York im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.500,00 (€ 64.993,28).
