This artwork by Rosa Bonheur achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February this year. In the An Opulent Aesthetic: An Important Private Collection from an English Country House auction, the work Study of two dogs sold for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 15,809.19) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rosa Bonheur achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Roi de la forêt in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 607,500.00 (€ 540,672.84).
